About Art Therapy

  • Please note that Psychotherapy and Art Therapy services are typically provided on a fee-for-service basis and are not covered by OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan). However, many Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) or extended health plans may cover the cost of psychotherapy. I suggest reaching out to your employer to inquire about coverage options. Keep in mind that Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy.

  • A typical Art Therapy session that lasts for 50 minutes is priced at $110. Prior to booking, kindly verify with your insurance provider if psychotherapy is included in your benefits. Additionally, I provide a flexible sliding scale rate of $80.00 per session that is determined on a case-by-case basis. We can discuss this further during a complimentary 20-minute consultation.

  • Payment for sessions can be made through cash, credit card or e-transfer, and is due at the end of each session. A credit card can be attached to your profile and will be charged after the session. If you need to cancel a session, please give me a 24-hour. It is important to note that the full session fee will be charged if you cancel late or do not show up for your appointment. Consideration will be taken into account for emergencies.

  • The frequency of sessions will be determined through collaboration between the client and the Art Therapist. Typically, weekly or bi-weekly sessions are attended by most individuals, but the decision ultimately depends on the unique situation of the person.

  • My office is situated at 120 Wellington Street in London, ON. You will find plenty of free parking spaces available. However, please note that if your appointment is scheduled after 5:00 PM, the doors may be locked. In that case, I will provide you with a buzzer code for entry.

  • Each session of Art Therapy is tailored to meet the individual's unique needs. The Art Therapist collaborates with the client to create a personalized routine that suits them best. Typically, the session begins with a brief check-in, followed by an art directive suggested by the Art Therapist or access to various art materials for the client to express themselves freely. This is followed by reflection and discussion.

It's essential to equip the client with a toolbox of coping strategies that they can take with them beyond the therapy session. Within the Art Therapy space, the client will use the art materials to create these strategies that they can practice at home, school or work, and become more self-sufficient.

  • After a session, any art created belongs to the client. Sometimes, the art can serve as a helpful coping mechanism and the client may choose to keep it. The Art Therapist will obtain the client's consent before documenting the art and will ensure its safety and security, in case the client decides to leave it with the therapist. Art is considered an essential component of the therapeutic process and is treated accordingly.
